The engineer Lázaro Guerra Hernández, director of Electricity of the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) during his last intervention on Cuban television, stressed that they have managed to create microsystems of electricity in all provinces of the country, except Artemisa.

“At approximately 15H00 (local time) the process of restoring the system had already begun,” he pointed out, stressing that they had “microsystems made in various regions of the country… At the moment we have microsystems in all provinces, except for Artemisa province, in all provinces we have made microsystems that does not mean that the whole load is being served”.

The official also explained that they are trying to bring electricity to the thermoelectric power plant of Santa Cruz, in the west of the country, “one of their units is already in the process of starting up,” he said.

In addition, he indicated that work is being done “on the implementation of the microsystem that will bring voltage to Mariel (in the province of Artemisa) for the start-up of its three units”, specifying that this start-up “must occur at night”.

While at the Central Termoeléctrica (CTE) Antonio Guiteras, work is being carried out focused on “the solution to the fault which removed it from the system”.

The Minem’s electricity director also told the Cuban press that “it was possible to bring electricity to the CTE Renté in Santiago de Cuba,” assuring that a motor of the patana located in the bay of that eastern province is running.

Meanwhile, he noted that in the coming hours electricity must be supplied to CTE Felton, -a generation block of great importance for the east of the country- which will allow the operation of Unit No.1 of this plant.

In addition, “microsystems of Camagüey will allow to bring the current to the CTE of Nuevitas (that province of the center of the country) for the start-up of its two units,” he noted.

“Throughout the night, the electrical workers will work to interconnect several microsystems and if the planned units start up, they will generate more and strengthen larger systems until they are interconnected to everything,” he said.
